When it comes to low back pain discomfort often isn’t a back problem at all. For example, if one side of your pelvis is higher than the other, this can result in back pain, hip pain, groin pain or even knee pain. Do you see where I’m going with this? The unevenness of your hips can pull on your lower back, which causes that tightness, especially if you sit for long periods. Every time your feet hit the ground the shock is transferred up your legs to your hips and spine, any irregularity or imbalance could be the culprit. If you have flat feet or over-pronation, where your foot tends to roll inward too much, this may be the cause of your backache. Or, it could be something as simple as one of your legs being ever so slightly shorter than the other. You could even have a curve in your spine. Or perhaps, and more seriously, one of the discs between your vertebrae of your spine could be degenerating. Either way, it’s definitely worth getting it checked out.
Although the causes of low back pain may be different, most often they share the same symptoms. Spinal manipulation and chiropractic care are a safe and effective treatment for acute low back pain and acute back pain, more common than chronic pain. With periodic maintenance adjustments, a chiropractor can help keep chronic pain at bay.
Here’s an interesting fact for you, about 22 million Americans visit chiropractors annually. Of these, 7.7 million, or 35%, are seeking relief from back pain from various causes, including accidents injuries and muscle strains. So, as you can see, when it comes to back pain, you’re not in it alone.
When treating spinal and musculoskeletal problems I use hands-on manipulation, which enables the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. If your low back pain has nothing to do with your spine and its cause is flat feet, a curve in your spine or the degeneration of discs between your vertebrae don’t give up hope. With a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, you are far more likely to gain relief from your low back pain compared with doing nothing at all.
